Application reviewIn-person interview in DallasClass date assignment

Company Questions

  • Base preferences and schedule questions discussed during interview

Tips

  • Interview conducted in Dallas
  • Hired as 'Transitional Captain' - complete FO IOE then upgrade to Captain within days
  • Must be PIC-ready within 6 weeks of start date or unlikely to get called for interview
  • They are focused on captain-qualified applicants; low-time hiring is mostly gone
  • OAK, BUR, SJC, SNA, LAS, CCR are X-side bases; Inc side has 30+ gateway cities
  • Schedules are 8/6, 7/7, or 5-day pairings

Interview Experience

Interviewed at JSX in Dallas, got a class date for Sep 26, 2019. Had 2800 hours, typed in the 170/190/737. JSX was looking for captain-ready guys who could upgrade fast after finishing FO IOE. I was hired as a Transitional Captain and upgraded 8 days after finishing FO IOE.

2019✗ Not HiredIn-person group interview

Interview Stages

ApplicationIn-person interview (group/class format)Post-interview wait (often very long - months with no response)

Tips

  • JSX has historically very poor follow-up communication after interviews
  • Some candidates heard nothing for 4-5 months then received surprise offers
  • Nobody in the interview class received a response either
  • Low-time applicants (275-800TT) unlikely to get called in current hiring environment
  • Re-applying after building more time may not help if they are focused on captain-ready candidates
  • Follow up with thank you email - though may not receive a response

Interview Experience

Interviewed at JSX with 275TT and never heard back. Nobody else in my interview group did either. Reapplied months later with 800TT, still nothing. JSX was terrible about post-interview communication. People in the forums were saying they waited 4-5 months with zero updates.
