Interview Experience

Interviewed at United early 2024. Two parts: behavioral with 5-6 TMAAT questions, then a technical portion where you're acting as Captain on a hypothetical flight with an enroute abnormal and diversion. Hogan is done online beforehand. They send you prep paperwork and you need to memorize a 13-item briefing. Timeline from CJO to class date was about 4 months. Captain seats were available all over the system.

Interview Stages

Meet the Chief Pilot (informal)Conversational interview

Behavioral Questions

  • Tell me about yourself
  • Why United?

Tips

  • Meet the Chief Pilot session is very casual - conversational, not scored
  • Wear a suit unless specifically told otherwise by CPO preference
  • Research the specific Chief Pilot you're meeting - get background info
  • Having a sponsor/internal recommendation is valuable
  • If CP says 'business casual', follow that recommendation exactly
  • Be sincere and genuine when asked 'Why United?'

Interview Experience

United's 'Meet the Chief' is a casual sit-down with someone from the CP office. It's conversational, they're just getting to know you. Not a tech grilling at all. Having a sponsor on the inside helps a ton.
