What to Expect at Your Republic Interview

The Republic Airways interview consists of three key phases: an HR behavioral round, a technical knowledge assessment, and a simulator evaluation. Interviewers assess systems knowledge, crew resource management judgment, and cultural fit with Republic\'s safety-first values. Bases in IND, EWR, DCA, and LGA mean strong demand, but competition requires you to walk in fully prepared.

Technical Questions

  • What defines Class A airspace
  • What are the holding pattern airspeeds
  • Interpret weather reports and forecasts including remarks sections
  • Define what the touchdown zone is
  • Brief a Jeppesen approach plate

Tips

  • Study approach plate briefings as different plates are used between interviewers
  • Review basic airspace definitions and holding procedures
  • Practice weather interpretation including remarks
  • Interview process described as comfortable and professional

Interview Experience

Republic interview was straightforward, no sim. Three parts: 20-question timed test on an iPad covering general aviation knowledge, a tech section with airspace, holding speeds, wx interpretation, TDZ definitions, and Jepp approach briefings, then standard HR. Different interviewers use different plates but nothing wild. Comfortable atmosphere, professional people. Study the standard prep material and you'll be fine.

Behavioral Questions

  • Tell us about yourself
  • Why do you want to work here?

Technical Questions

  • Do you have any formal training?
  • Technical questions about aircraft you have flown

Tips

  • Study the gouge thoroughly - the interview was exactly as described in published gouges
  • The Wonderlic test catches people off guard - prepare for it
  • The sim evaluation is a common elimination point
  • Use interview prep services like Emerald Coast Consulting
  • When you don't know an answer, say you'd look it up rather than guessing

Interview Experience

Interviewed and got hired at RAH. The published gouge is spot on, don't overthink it. The Wonderlic and sim eval are the two things that trip people up. One guy who didn't make it said they asked about 'formal training' and he didn't know what to say. Prep for that.

Interview Stages

ApplicationInterviewCJOWait for class date

Tips

  • Republic was issuing CJOs but class dates took 12-18+ months in 2024-2025
  • Republic purged its applicant pool in early 2026, rescinding some CJOs via generic Workday rejection emails
  • LIFT Academy pipeline cadets get priority for class dates over outside applicants
  • Checkride failures disclosed during interview may still trigger rescission when documents are formally submitted
  • Do NOT wait around for a single CJO — apply broadly and take other opportunities
  • Outside applicants (non-cadet, non-contract) may be deprioritized vs cadet pipeline candidates
  • Republic was starting bigger class dates in January 2026 aligned with upgrade class increases
  • One commenter interviewed at Republic end of February, was told to expect September class date but got June 3 instead
  • Update your hours regularly after CJO — failure to maintain currency/recency requirements can trigger rescission

Interview Experience

Got a CJO from Republic about 18 months before they pulled it with a generic automated Workday email in early 2026. Looks like they're purging their applicant pool since the LIFT Academy pipeline is feeding them plenty of pilots. I'd already moved on to a corporate gig by then and also had SkyWest class dates in hand. If you're not a LIFT/cadet candidate, expect 12-18 month waits for a class date. Or just don't count on it.
