What to Expect at Your Envoy Interview

The Envoy Air interview follows the American Eagle format, combining a structured HR panel with simulator evaluation. Expect a mix of behavioral and situational questions from a panel of pilots and recruiters, followed by a sim session designed to assess your airmanship and CRM skills in the E170/175 or CRJ-700 environment. Company-specific questions about Envoy\'s culture, pathway programs, and American Airlines Group alignment are common and often catch unprepared candidates off guard.

Interview Experience

Showed up at 0830 with about 60 other people. Checked in, turned in two forms of ID and paperwork, then sat through a company presentation on history, benefits, and training. The conference room was freezing so bring a jacket. After the presentation we did a written exercise including a customer service question they brought up again later in the interview. Physical tests in groups of ten for jumpseat fit and height. Then group interviews with 5-6 candidates per table, two questions each. Had to read a passage out loud too. Lunch was sandwiches, and that's when they started pulling people. Went from 60 down to about 20, and watching people get walked out was stressful. If you made it you got the CJO, then it was a marathon of paperwork, two drug tests, and fingerprints. They bussed us back to the airport around 1605.

Tips

  • Envoy hiring full speed ahead - 223 pilots hired already in early 2024 (57 DECs, 66 cadets, 100 street FOs)
  • 22+ aircraft deliveries planned per year
  • Cadet program gives guaranteed job offer and priority class dates
  • Orientation is monthly, 30-60 pilots, about 4 hours in a hotel conference room
  • Start a WhatsApp thread with your orientation group
  • Sim training all in DFW - mix of exclusive sims and Flight Safety contracted slots
  • DECs and high-time FOs may be prioritized for orientation slots
  • If app not getting traction, try deleting and resubmitting on airlineapps (reported glitch)
  • Apply as early as possible - next day interview invites have happened
  • Envoy profits from having captain surplus compared to other regionals

Interview Experience

Envoy has been hiring aggressively. Monthly orientations of 30-60 pilots, taking delivery of new E170s and E175s. They're bringing in street FOs, direct entry captains, and cadets. All training is in DFW. If you're in the cadet program you get a guaranteed offer and priority for class dates, which is a solid deal.

Interview Stages

In-person interviewCTP (about 1 week later)Orientation (end of following month)

Tips

  • After interview in late April, CTP was given about a week later
  • Orientation date was end of May
  • Reserve schedules are typically 4 or 5 days on followed by 3 days off
  • 12 hour long call reserve exists but goes fairly senior - only about 2 lines per base/position
  • New hires start with 0400-1600 reserve period with 2 hour call out
  • Some reserve shifts converted to airport standby depending on relative seniority
  • Hotel provider has crew rates about 10-20 dollars cheaper

Interview Experience

Interviewed at Envoy late April 2025, got my CTP assignment about a week later with an OE date end of May. For anyone wondering about reserve life: new hires get 0400-1600 reserve with a 2-hour callout. Schedule is 4-5 reserve days then 3 off. Long call (12-hour) reserve is limited to maybe 2 lines per base and goes senior.
