Behavioral Questions

  • TMAT-style behavioral questions were asked

Technical Questions

  • brief a Jeppesen approach plate for either Seattle or JFK

Tips

  • process moves very quickly
  • interview atmosphere is very laid-back
  • pilot group is excellent and you get to fly heavy aircraft
  • be prepared for TMAT-style questions
  • be ready to brief approach plates

Interview Experience

ATI moved fast. Started with a quick chat with the ACP about my flight time, multi time, and whether I had my ATP-CTP. He kicked me over to a Zoom panel with the CP and flight ops people. Zoom interview was super laid back, TMAAT behavioral stuff and they had me brief a Jepp plate, I think it was Seattle or JFK. Got my CJO four days later. Contract negotiations have their issues but the pilot group is solid and you get some good heavy cargo flying.

Tips

  • Internal recommendations to the chief pilot are the primary path to getting an interview call
  • New hire classes are running regularly with around 21 scheduled per class
  • Home-basing is available and valued by pilots

Interview Experience

I received an email from ATI inviting me to a 30-minute HR screen conducted via MS Teams Video. The process seems to be starting with this video screening before moving to further steps. Based on what others in the thread shared, new hire classes were actively running with one that just started on a recent Monday. The key to getting noticed seems to be having an internal recommendation -- most interview calls were going to applicants who had recs direct to the chief pilot. Without that, people were having trouble hearing back even with diverse qualifications. The company is actively hiring FOs with ATP and 1500 TT plus 500 ME minimums, and upgrade is available once you meet qualifications at 3000 TT and 1000 part 121 hours.

Tips

  • An internal recommendation from a current captain helps significantly
  • They are hiring candidates without ATPs who have just the written completed
  • The interview process has gotten more substantive recently
  • Most interview calls go to applicants with internal recs direct to the chief pilot

Interview Experience

I applied to ATI after getting recommended by a former captain who said he enjoyed his time there. The process started with a phone screen, followed by a two-part phone interview scheduled about two weeks later. I was pleasantly surprised they would even interview me since I did not have my ATP yet, just the written completed. Once I got through the phone interviews, I received a class date. From what I heard, most of the interview calls were going to applicants who had internal recommendations direct to the chief pilot. I also spoke with someone who had just interviewed and they said it was a bit more than just fogging a mirror, suggesting the process has gotten more rigorous recently as the company tries to improve the quality of new hires coming through the door.
